What the playback service records
When operational listening is enabled and you start a channel, the service can record:
- the account, trial, business, device and zone identifiers connected with playback, when those identifiers are available;
- the channel and timestamps;
- connection status and the number of bytes relayed;
- browser playback states such as playing, paused, buffering or stalled, ended, and media errors; and
- an estimated listening duration calculated from playback-state reports received by the service.
The browser creates a random identifier for each observed playback instance. The playback code keeps it in memory while that instance is active; it does not save the identifier in local storage or session storage.
02
Why we use it and who can see it
We use this data to operate playback, investigate stream and browser problems, and provide support. Access to the operational listening report is restricted to authorised Meridian staff.
03
How long it appears in the report
The operational report covers playback sessions started during the previous 30 days. Automatic cleanup removes older records in small batches. If there is a backlog or cleanup is interrupted, older records can remain for longer while later cleanup runs catch up.
04
Optional Google Analytics
Google Analytics is separate from operational listening data and starts off denied. After you select Allow
, Google can receive navigation and playback events together with its standard first-visit, session-start and user-engagement events. You can choose Keep off
or withdraw that choice later.
Account setup and contract activity
To support account setup and signing, Meridian can record page displays, setup submissions, validation categories, signing attempts and completed signatures, together with their time and the related account or offer. These operational records are separate from optional Google Analytics and are available only to authorised administrators.
Activity records do not contain your password or invitation token. Browser reports show that a page was displayed; they do not establish that someone read the contract. Signed contracts preserve the accepted text, signer details, acceptance time and document hash. When owner-copy delivery is configured, a copy is also sent to Cosmic Production’s designated owner email through Resend.
Contract and setup records are kept separately from the playback report; its 30-day cleanup does not apply to them. Contact us below with questions about these records.
